Privacy
In short: aline has no accounts, uses no analytics and doesn’t receive your notes. Here we explain what happens with your information, without jargon.
Last updated: October 17, 2026
What aline stores and where
What you create in aline is stored in your browser’s storage, on your device. aline has no server where your notes are kept and no database with your data.
- Your content: notes, documents, canvases, images, calendars, version history and trash.
- Your preferences: language, color theme and the last document you opened.
- A local technical log, used to diagnose problems, which never includes the text of your notes or access keys and only leaves your device if you export it.
What we don’t do
- We don’t ask you to create an account.
- We don’t use analytics, telemetry or advertising cookies.
- We don’t sell or share your data, or use it for ads.
- We don’t automatically load external images that appear in your notes: they are shown as links.
- Fonts are served from the site itself, not from external services.
This website
The presentation site stores only two things in your browser, solely so it works as you expect:
- A cookie called “lang”, lasting one year, with your preferred language, to take you to the right version.
- A local value with the position of the decorative stickers, if you move them, to remember where you left them.
We don’t use tracking cookies or analytics tools.
Google Drive (optional)
If you decide to sync with Google Drive, aline first asks you to choose how, and doesn’t connect to Google until you do.
- Unencrypted: your content is stored in your Drive in a readable format and Google can read it, under its policy.
- With end-to-end encryption: your content is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded and Google can’t read it. If you lose the password and the recovery code, that copy can’t be recovered.
- aline only asks for permission to see and manage the files it creates itself (the “drive.file” permission), not the rest of your Drive.
- The authorization lasts only while the page is open: after a reload you need to authorize again.
- Your data travels directly between your browser and Google; it doesn’t go through our servers.
The information aline gets from your Google account is used only to save and retrieve your content; it is not transferred to third parties or used for advertising. You can withdraw access at any time from your Google account settings. How Google uses your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Hosting
The site and the app are served through Cloudflare. Like any hosting service, Cloudflare may log technical connection data (such as the IP address and browser type) to deliver the files and protect the service, under its own privacy policy. We don’t use that data to identify you or to build profiles.
Your control
- Take what’s yours: export your content in open formats (Markdown, .excalidraw, PNG, SVG, PDF, Word and a full ZIP backup).
- Delete what you want: what you remove goes to the trash and you can delete it for good whenever you like. To erase everything, clear the site’s data in your browser.
- Copies you saved in Google Drive or in a folder on your computer are deleted from there.
- You can withdraw the Google Drive permission from your Google account.
Since we don’t receive your data, we can’t access, correct or delete it for you: you are in control.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it here with its date. If we ever add something that changes the above, such as accounts or services of our own, we will explain it on this page.
